Personal Data and GDPR Policy of the QoG Datasets


The Quality of Government Datasets are an annual compilation of data related to institutional quality and good government gathered by the Quality of Government Institute at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Our objective is to facilitate access to high-quality comparative data through open source material for researchers and practitioners in the field. The collection of personal data is necessary for the operation of this research and, therefore, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What personal data are we collecting and why?

In order to contact you concerning us using your datasets in our compilation, the QoG Institute has previously collected information about your name, email address and institutional affiliation. We have retrieved this information via academic or professional associations, institutions and organizations, from individual researchers and practitioners, or through publicly available information on the web.

The QoG Institute only uses this information solely for the purpose of consulting or informing you about our usage of your data.

Processing, storing and sharing personal data

The personal data collected by the QoG Institute is stored at encrypted servers hosted by the University of Gothenburg, and it is only available to the QoG Data Team at the Institute.

We store your personal information for as long as we need it to contact you with annual updates about our usage of your data, or for us long as you permit us to do so. We do not share your personal information with any other party.

Your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The Quality of Government Institute and the University of Gothenburg adheres to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means that you have complete control of how your personal data being used.

At all times, you are able to:
- request transcripts of your registered personal data;
- request more information about our use of your personal data;
- rectify any of your personal data;
- request limits to our usage of your data;
- request to transfer your personal information to a third party;
- request to be removed from our contact list;
- request to remove all your personal information.
